It's pretty interesting to hear the perspective of people who were younger and using Myspace when Facebook came out. FB originally was for college students ONLY (you had to have a college email to register), and it was very much a basic utility thing. Social media was new, and we were too busy with college to bother with anything other than that. FB ended up taking over social media by having that exclusivity to it (making it more appealing when it opened up to the general population), by being more streamlined and more mature (at least back then), and by having an INFINITELY better search function. I actually started college the year "The Facebook" was created, and never could I have imagined that it would eventually destroy America and probably the world.

@Pretty Much It YES! Purchasing - it's the best film of our generation (older Millennial here). Objectively good, even if Sorkin is a bit in love with the institutions that create someone like Mark Zuckerberg. Regardless, it's a defining part of our story and at 31 years old no film could better describe who we are as a generation. This is essentially our "Easy Rider." Keep up the killer work, big fan, and have been studying film for almost two decades - you're some of the best out there.

Ok but to be fair, Eduardo was lying/trying to make Mark look bad at the deposition when he said that Mark only had one friend - we know that he's friends with Dustin Moskovitz and a couple other ppl. Also from Zuckerberg's POV RE: diluting shares - if Eduardo HAD been in charge (or more involved, later on) of business decisions, Facebook wouldn't have been as successful. Mark was correct about the Mountain Dew ads being a bad move for a new site, but throughout the movie Eduardo only saw the site in the short-term, and wanted to make a profit ASAP. I get why Zuckerberg, Moskovitz, and Parker's shares weren't diluted down - they were much more present in the daily, regular growth/maintenance of the site. Not to say that it wasn't a jerk move to dilute your friend's shares down that much ( and Eduardo really SHOULD have gotten his lawyer to look that contract over ), but of the four I can understand how "logically" (and from Mark's POV) Eduardo is the weakest link. Not taking the Final Club issue into account at all, I get how Mark could justify his action to himself as being a good business decision. * When I talk about Mark and Eduardo, I mean the characters from the movies - this isn't a commentary about the real life people.
